Focus Area 2 Other Aquatic Pathways
Interim reports are listed below for each potential aquatic pathway between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins. Each report evaluates key evidence to estimate the probability of an aquatic pathway forming at the basin divide, and then of specific aquatic nuisance species (ANS) being able to utilize that pathway to reach the adjacent basin.
Many of these pathway assessments include a list of potential actions or opportunities that might prevent or reduce the probability of ANS transfer occurring between the basins. These reports are the next step in assessing the risk associated with the spread of ANS between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins outside of the Chicago Area Waterways System (CAWS). These reports conclude the FA2 draft interim assessment pathway report releases.
The GLMRIS FA2 Team asked for public input on these reports. The public comment period is now closed; USACE will review and incorporate public input before finalizing and re-issuing the reports in spring 2013.
